GRADUATE
The Graduate program at LBC consists of the Master of Sacred Literature Degree. The
Master of Sacred Literature degree is designed to prepare a student for specialized
ministry. The degree is also available for students who plan to change vocations
or continue formal education.
The Master of Sacred Literature has the following majors available: Theology and
Practical Ministry. Both majors consist of 6 hours of core courses, 12 hours of
Biblical studies, 12 hours of Professional studies, 6 hours of Thesis Research and
a final Thesis Project. This degree requires a total of 36 hours for graduation.
Theology Graduate Students should expect to demonstrate:
- The foundational idea of Scripture’s divine inspiration and authority as well as
the need to establish all Christian beliefs and practices upon Biblical teaching.
- Develop a Biblical-based worldview.
- Theologically sound doctrine that will form the basis for critical reasoning, strategic
thinking, and problem solving skills for ministry.
- Exegete the Scriptures in the original languages in order to communicate Biblical
truth effectively and with authority.
- Grasp Biblical and systematic theology and be able to think theologically.
- Confront increasingly difficult issues in the world today by understanding contemporary
theological, moral, and ethical issues and be able to evaluate them Scripturally.
- Know the historical development of theology and the heritage of the church.
- Explain the significance and influence of the Restoration Movement.
- Exhibit an ability to conduct graduate level research in the field of theology and
apologetics and translate that research into an effective ministry of teaching, preaching
and/or publication.
Practical Ministry Graduate Students should expect to demonstrate:
- A Biblical philosophy of ministry.
- A Biblical-based worldview.
- Theologically sound doctrine and integrate this into problem-solving skills for ministry.
- A commitment and passion for serving in Christian ministry.
- The significance and influence of the Restoration Movement.
- Principles from the Word of God and integrate personal skills and gifts for effective
ministry.
